Sukhkarta Dukhharta

सुखकर्ता दुःखहर्ता

Sukhkarta Dukhharta is the Marathi aarti to Lord Ganesh written by the 17th-century saint Samarth Ramdas. A refrain, "Jai Dev Jai Dev Jai Mangalmurti", and three stanzas praise Ganesh as the giver of joy and remover of sorrow and describe his vermilion form, jewels and three eyes. In Maharashtra it opens almost every Ganesh puja and is sung morning and evening through Ganeshotsav.

Refrain

Jai Dev Jai Dev Jai Mangalmurti

Darshanmatre Man Kamana Purti

Glory to you, O God, glory to you, O Mangalmurti, form of all that is auspicious. The mere sight of you fulfils the wishes of the heart.

Stanza 1

Sukhkarta Dukhharta Varta Vighnachi

Nuravi Puravi Prem Kripa Jayachi

Sarvangi Sundar Uti Shendurachi

Kanthi Jhalke Mal Muktaphalanchi

You bring joy and take away sorrow, and leave not even a trace of obstacles. You give love in plenty, and your grace reaches everyone. Your whole body is beautiful with a coat of vermilion, and a necklace of pearls gleams at your throat.

Refrain

Jai Dev Jai Dev Jai Mangalmurti

Darshanmatre Man Kamana Purti

Stanza 2

Ratnakhachit Phara Tuj Gaurikumara

Chandanachi Uti Kumkum Keshara

Hirejadit Mukut Shobhato Bara

Runjhunati Nupure Charani Ghagariya

O son of Gauri, you wear a jewel-studded ornament, and a paste of sandalwood with kumkum and saffron. A crown set with diamonds suits you well, and anklets with little bells jingle at your feet.

Refrain

Jai Dev Jai Dev Jai Mangalmurti

Darshanmatre Man Kamana Purti

Stanza 3

Lambodar Pitambar Phanivarbandhana

Saral Sond Vakratunda Trinayana

Das Ramacha Vat Pahe Sadana

Sankati Pavave Nirvani Rakshave Survarvandana

Big-bellied one, in yellow silk, with a great serpent tied as your belt; with a straight trunk, a curved face and three eyes. This servant of Ram waits for you at home. Come to us in trouble and protect us at the last hour, O you whom the best of the gods worship.

Refrain

Jai Dev Jai Dev Jai Mangalmurti

Darshanmatre Man Kamana Purti
