About
On Hanuman Jayanti devotees go to a Hanuman temple early in the morning. They offer sindoor mixed with jasmine oil, red flowers and laddoos, and recite the Hanuman Chalisa, the Sundarkand or the Bajrang Baan. The dates on this page are for the North Indian observance on Chaitra Purnima.
South Indian traditions keep the day at other times of the year. Telugu Hanuman Jayanti falls on Vaishakha Bahula (Krishna) Dashami, about 41 days after Chaitra Purnima. It closes the 41-day Hanuman deeksha that many devotees begin on Chaitra Purnima. In 2027 it is on Monday, May 31 in India. Tamil Hanumath Jayanthi is on the Amavasya of Margazhi, usually with Moolam nakshatra. The next one is Thursday, January 7, 2027 in India. In Karnataka, Hanuman Vratam is kept on Margashirsha Shukla Trayodashi.
These South Indian dates are for India. Abroad the day can shift, so check your local temple's calendar (a Sri Venkateswara temple, for example) and follow your family's tradition.

Can we celebrate on the weekend instead?
The tithi day is the proper day. Many temples abroad also hold a Chalisa path or community puja on the nearest weekend, and joining that is fine. If you can, light a diya and recite the Chalisa at home on the day itself too.
Is it Hanuman Jayanti or Hanuman Janmotsav?
Both are used and both mean his birthday. Some people prefer "Janmotsav" because Hanuman is a chiranjeevi, one who is believed to be still living.
