About
Holika Dahan remembers Prahlad, whose devotion to Vishnu kept him safe in the fire in which his aunt Holika burned. Families walk around the fire, offering new wheat or barley ears, coconut and cow-dung cakes, and many take a little of the roasted grain home as prasad.
The next morning is Rangwali Holi, also called Dhulandi. In Braj it is Krishna's festival: gulal, songs, gujiya and thandai. It is also the day to visit people you have quarrelled with and start fresh.
