The text

Refrain

Jai Dev Jai Dev Jai Mangalmurti

Darshanmatre Man Kamana Purti

Meaning

Glory to you, O God, glory to you, O Mangalmurti, form of all that is auspicious. The mere sight of you fulfils the wishes of the heart.

In Maharashtra the aarti begins with the first stanza, and this refrain is sung after it and after every stanza. Many people sing "मनकामना पुरती" (wishes are fulfilled), a common variant.

Stanza 1

Sukhkarta Dukhharta Varta Vighnachi

Nuravi Puravi Prem Kripa Jayachi

Sarvangi Sundar Uti Shendurachi

Kanthi Jhalke Mal Muktaphalanchi

… Jai Dev Jai Dev Jai Mangalmurti … Refrain, sung again

Meaning

You bring joy and take away sorrow, and leave not even a trace of obstacles. You give love in plenty, and your grace reaches everyone. Your whole body is beautiful with a coat of vermilion, and a necklace of pearls gleams at your throat.

"Nuravi" (leaves nothing behind) is often sung as "nurvi". Ganesh images in Maharashtra are traditionally coated in shendur (vermilion). mr.wikipedia prints "विघ्नांची"; sanskritdocuments.org has "विघ्नाची".

Stanza 2

Ratnakhachit Phara Tuj Gaurikumara

Chandanachi Uti Kumkum Keshara

Hirejadit Mukut Shobhato Bara

Runjhunati Nupure Charani Ghagariya

… Jai Dev Jai Dev Jai Mangalmurti … Refrain, sung again

Meaning

O son of Gauri, you wear a jewel-studded ornament, and a paste of sandalwood with kumkum and saffron. A crown set with diamonds suits you well, and anklets with little bells jingle at your feet.

Phara is an old Marathi word for a jewelled ornament. mr.wikipedia prints "कुमकुम".

Stanza 3

Lambodar Pitambar Phanivarbandhana

Saral Sond Vakratunda Trinayana

Das Ramacha Vat Pahe Sadana

Sankati Pavave Nirvani Rakshave Survarvandana

… Jai Dev Jai Dev Jai Mangalmurti … Refrain, sung again

Meaning

Big-bellied one, in yellow silk, with a great serpent tied as your belt; with a straight trunk, a curved face and three eyes. This servant of Ram waits for you at home. Come to us in trouble and protect us at the last hour, O you whom the best of the gods worship.

"Das Ramacha", the servant of Ram, is the signature of Samarth Ramdas. A third eye is unusual in images of Ganesh, but the Mayureshwar image at Morgaon has one, and Marathi tradition says that image inspired this aarti. sanskritdocuments.org prints the last line as two lines.

About Sukhkarta Dukhharta

Samarth Ramdas (1608–1682), the saint-poet of Maharashtra and author of the Dasbodh, wrote several aartis, and this is the best loved. Marathi tradition says he was moved to write it by the image of Mayureshwar at Morgaon, one of the Ashtavinayak temples, which has three eyes as the aarti describes.

Questions

Is this the same Sukhkarta Dukhharta that is sung in Hindi?

Yes. These are the same Marathi words, written in Gujarati letters so you can read them aloud. It is a transliteration, not a translation into Gujarati. The meaning of each verse is given in English.

How was the Gujarati text prepared?

We keep one checked Devanagari edition (Marathi aarti by Samarth Ramdas as given in the sanskritdocuments.org Marathi Arati Collection (marathi/documents/maaratii-5.itx, ITRANS, which notes "The Arati is by Samartha Ramadas"), cross-checked line by line with the text quoted on Marathi Wikipedia (सुखकर्ता दुःखहर्ता)) and write it in Gujarati letters with fixed spelling rules, so every verse matches the original letter for letter. The English-letter line is the common singing spelling.
