About Om Jai Shiv Omkara

An aarti is sung while waving a lit lamp before the deity at the close of worship. "Om Jai Shiv Omkara" is the Shiva aarti heard in most North Indian homes, and in many Hindu temples abroad. Its main theme is unity. Stanza after stanza shows Shiva holding the emblems of all three gods: Brahma's swan and water-pot; Vishnu's Garuda, discus and yellow silk; Shiva's bull, trident and tiger skin. Then it says that "in the syllable Om these three are one".

Yes. These are the same Hindi words, written in Punjabi letters so you can read them aloud. It is a transliteration, not a translation into Punjabi. The meaning of each verse is given in English.

How was the Punjabi text prepared?

We keep one checked Devanagari edition (Traditional Hindi aarti; full sung form as given by drikpanchang.com "Shri Shiv Ji Ki Aarti", cross-checked with revivingcultures.com, hindi.webdunia.com and shivchalisahindi.com) and write it in Punjabi letters with fixed spelling rules, so every verse matches the original letter for letter.
